| When Terry met Lisa back in 1996 he didn't think he'd to be doing what he is today........ Showing and training horses! He was more of a cattle and sheep man. He has very successfully raised and shown both over the years. He prepped and his daughter showed several Grand Champion 4-H Steers and showed successfully at the Ohio State Fair and Open Steer Shows. So he is no stranger to the show ring! He is now VERY successful with the horses. He does a great job training them to drive and starting the young horses then turns them over to Lisa to finish! He made his debut in the pleasure riding ring at the 2005 AHR National Haflinger Show on Will and won his class! Watch for him in more riding classes this year on his own show horse! Terry is proudly serving as the 2009-2010 President of the Ohio Haflinger Association while Lisa has served as the OHA Equine Affaire coordinator. |
| Lisa too, would never have thought back in 1996 that she would be working with haflingers. She has successfully shown and trained horses for going on 30 years now. She started in small 4-H shows and moved her way through open to intercollegiate to eventing over a 5 state area. When she and Terry met, Lisa was actively showing her thoroughbred off the track, Lucky. She was a 4-H horse advisor in Tuscarawas County for 10 years and Knox County for 3. She also for a number of years gave private riding lessons in jumping, dressage and hunter under saddle and had MANY top riders competing at the 4-H, State and open show levels. She cut back on showing when she and Terry married in 1997. When Terry mentioned he wanted to start driving horses they purchased a young quarter horse mare that did not want to be a driving horse. In 2002 a friend of Terry's mentioned haflingers and the rest, as they say is history!!! A couple years ago she finally gave in and sold her last thoroughbred and now works with the haflingers with Terry. She does the finish work and is currently competing with her show horse Will in western pleasure, showmanship and training for reining!!!!!! She still holds on to her English roots though, training various haflingers on the farm in dressage and jumping. Look for Lisa and Will in the reining ring in 2010 year! TLC Stables also has several students that show haflingers with us! Make sure to look for a TLC Stables haflinger at open and haflinger shows throughout the year! |
