My name is Margaret and I am the proud owner of my very first Haflinger, Wrace of Chestnut Ridge, or better known to everyone at the farm as Ace. In the summer of 2010 I went into breed research looking for my next “project” horse. I grew up showing saddle seat on a Morgan who I loved with all my heart. I knew after 3 different quarter horses, that I would never be able to replace my first true heart horse and decided to find something that defined me at this point in my life. I loved showing both in the light and draft horse worlds. I love the freedom of riding and the laid back aspect of driving around in a cart. So I went looking at Haflingers.
Doing a quick internet search of local Haflinger farms; I came across the TLC Stables website and found not only were the local but they were 5 minutes away! After emailing Lisa wanting to know more about the breed and what I was looking for in a horse, I was invited over to “meet the herd”. After several hours asking my questions and riding Willy, knew that I had found the breed of horse that I was looking for. I was invited and encouraged to come back and ride whenever I was free to do; which I did a lot of that fall.
That winter, I bought Ace and moved into the TLC Stables family. Terry and Lisa have given me tons of encouragement and support while I have been training Ace. Lisa has a never ending amount of knowledge and experience in training. She has always been willing to help me when I am running out of ideas when it comes to getting Ace to do what I want him to do.
Ace and I show hunter under saddle and dressage. We are currently working on cantering and are looking forward to maybe adding cross rails to our bag of tricks. I am so excited to show in the 2012 season!
